Welcome to Acclaim Magazine’s Heat of the Week. Here are our favourite new releases from Australia and around the world  this week — Follow our playlist here for updates of the best new music every single Friday.

01. A$AP Rocky - RIOT (Rowdy Pipe'n)

Rocky and Pharrell are a match for the ages. The production thumps as distorted 808s come crashing down like an inverted atomic drop. Rocky’s fast-moving flows put the production in a sleeper hold and pull no punches. The track is a pure slobber knocker; shout out Roddy Piper.

02. Ice Spice - Deli

Ice Spice’s ‘Deli’ is truly a cold cut. Bellowing kicks blast in a Jersey club-inspired loop, setting the tone for the New Yorker’s addictive energy and bossy bars. Right out the gate, this is a standout on the newly-released deluxe edition of her project Like..?, which you can stream now.

03. Paris Texas - DND ft. Kenny Mason

Paris Texas’ ‘DnD’ is a stripped back quest compared to the chaos of their usual campaigns. Felix, Louie, and guest adventurer Kenny Mason face the dragons of personal adversity, rolling the dice on every decision they try to decipher through vulnerable raps. The backdrop for this battle comes in the form of understated guitar riffing and some bouncy drum patterns. It’s an instant highlight off their new project MID AIR, which you can stream now.

04. Snoh Aalegra - Be My Summer

Snoh Aalegra continues to solidfy herself as one of R&B’s best with ‘Be My Summer’. Her soulful vocals slide into the romantic atmosphere of the track, tip-toeing atop the warm synth keys and slow-moving drums with elegance. It’s smooth, sentimental, and a shoe-in for any slow-jam setlists.

05. Sophiegrophy - No Time ft. Balloranking

On ‘No Time’, Sophiegrophy showcases her duality as an artist, and makes it look easy. She effortlessly switches between passionate passages of singing, to spitting a series of hard-hitting bars. Nigeria’s Balloranking brings soothing melodies on his guest verse, enhancing the emotions of the song’s aspirational subject matter. It appears on Sophiegrophy’s new project Oranginality, which you can stream now.

06. CHAII - Drippin' In Gold

CHAII brings a truly vibrant energy to ‘Drippin’ In Gold’. The production is abrasive, with percussion freely bouncing around the mix, while vocal hits and synth stabs slice into the atmosphere like Excalibur. The Persian-NZ rapper channels pandemonium in her performance, switching between feint and fiery cadences to create a KO-punch of a track.

07. Eco$ystem - OFF MY MIND

Eco$ystem’s ‘OFF MY MIND’ is an ear-catching dose of drill. The rattling hi-hats and thumping kicks create a sense of urgency, which is then mellowed out by a smooth vocal sample over the top. Eco finds his pocket quick on the track, letting off triplet flows and raspy melodies seamlessly.

08. A81Yann - WPD

Representing the Picked Last collective, A81yann’s ‘WPD’ is one of those late-night jams. The synth layers swirl throughout, shimmering like the city lights you see on a nocturnal drive, and when the drums kick in, it feels like going full pelt on the pedal. The Melbourne artist’s autotune croons slide over the top, creating an enriched sense of euphoria.

09. Smak - red bag, green bag ft. Ginge Mansion

Smak is truly showing out on ‘green bag red bag’. He graces the Nerve-produced track with a sense of hunger, propelling every flurry of wordplay with an unmistakeable passion. Ginge Mansion matches this energy, storming the track with his own set of similies. This track is a love letter to lyricism.

010. Travis Scott - K-Pop ft. Bad Bunny, The Weekend

Travis Scott’s ‘K-POP’ is a testament to his ability to mix styles. The drums have the dance-inducing rhythm of reggaeton, perfectly suited for this track’s sleek Bad Bunny feature. The synths are airy, creating an arena-ready mood that complements the croons of The Weeknd. Travis sounds right at home in both of these worlds, punching in with woozy flows throughout. This track serves as a teaser for La Flame’s upcoming album UTOPIA, which is set to premiere via a listening party at the literal freakin Pyramids of Giza next week.
